Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.5 update released

Microsoft has released the 11.3.5 update for Office 2004. (58.5 MB) The update is a cumulative update that incorporates all prior Office 2004 updates. Download it from Mactoptia, use the Microsoft AutoUpdate application or simply select the Check For Updates command from the Help menu in any Office 2004 application.

Listed in the update’s Read Me file is a specific fix for Entourage to improve performance. This appears to be a response to user reports that Entourage stops responding for several minutes during normal use.

Changed files specific to Entourage include the Microsoft Database Daemon 11.3.5.

The change to the Microsoft Database Daemon indicates that it is probably responsible for the performance problem mentioned in the Read Me. It is responsible for services such as database integrity checking, notifications and synchronization, all of which interact heavily with a user's database file.
