Microsoft has released the 11.3.6 update for Office 2004. (15.2 MB) The update requires that the Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.5 Update be installed first. Download them both from Mactoptia, use the Microsoft AutoUpdate application or simply select the Check For Updates command from the Help menu in any Office 2004 application.
[Please note the MS Update is not causing problems, but the latest Apple iTunes 7.3.1 and Quicktime 7.2 Updaters are causing problems with all Rosetta applications. See the latest article on fixes]
Listed in the update’s Read Me file is a fix for data loss in public folders on Exchange Servers caused by users with Editor privileges emptying the cache for all public folders. The Read Me does not specify if the data loss is specific to any version of Exchange Server.
Additionally, the Japanese postal code dictionary is updated with the latest information as of May 2007.

tried to install 11.3.6. started and died, cannot run any entourage, word, excel, powerpoint. i was told that the update did not affect word , but it will not run now and i had just used it 20 minutes before the update. tried to install 11.3.5 it starts and dies. repaired permissions, no go. tried another user, no go. removed office 2004 folder and trashed. grabbed my office 2004 cd and tried the office setup assisant , starts and dies. would like to get my word and excel documents open so i can do some work but it doesn't look like that will happen.
The combo updater should fix your problem, however, some users have had to resort to an “Archive & Install” to get working again.
It’s too bad that the updaters came out at the same time causing confusion on what caused the problem.
So ever since i installed the update Entourage has been doing very strange things. On my list of items under my OWA account I get 2 calendars and 2 sets of contacts. Now all of my OWA contacts have disappeared.
If at all possible always try to check your account through OWA, Outlook and/or another Entourage identity. Having another point of reference to see how your Exchange Server account is acting is always helpful because so many times the problem actually is with Exchange.
In your case I do suspect corruption of your database but I would definitely verify this by at least creating a new Entourage identity and connecting to your account there.
If you continue to have problems be sure to post what you're seeing along with what you've done to troubleshoot this problem in the Entourage newsgroup or the Entourage-Talk mailing list. Most of the folks contributing to this site hang out there and answer a lot of questions.
After i installed 10.4.10 and the office update, my computer will not open any microsoft applications except messenger. I don't get a splash or anything, the icon just stops bouncing. I've tried to launch the application from terminal with no luck. I can't seem to find out WHY it won't open :(

I don't get it. Everything else seems to be working fine. I tried downloading the combo update from Apple, and it completed. but it didn't help. Anyone got a suggestion other than A&I?
If you haven't already, take a look at Diane's post Apple posts KB fix on QuickTime 7.2 Update. You're describing the symptoms that the update_prebinding command in the Terminal should fix.
If this doesn't work for you then be sure to post your question in the microsoft.public.mac.office newsgroup. A lot of Mac MVPs and some of us non-Mac MVPs hang out there and in the other Microsoft forums for Macs answering questions. The more eyes looking at your problem the better.

I wonder if you can help? I've read the trends above and it appears I've got a similar problem. I installed the latest MS office update via Office AutoUpdate and it appears to have erased not only the old copy of entourage but all my emails (mailing list & contacts) etc with it.....
Does anyone know why this has happened and how it may be resolved/recovered?
I've not installed the other software updates yet which include I-Tunes and latest Security Update so don't know whether this would help.
If someone can get back to me ASAP that would be much appreciated.

Entourage mysteriously stopped opening after downloading my latest update. So, I uninstalled all of office 2004 and re-installed. Now I cannot open ENTOURAGE at all --and Word, PowerPoint, Excel all open but state that there is a "framing error"
Don't know if all the emails and contacts lost - very frustrating. Any suggestions?
Hi Erica! Do you possibly mean a Framework Error?
Have a look at the Troubleshoot Install tips on "Troubleshoot Install and Update Problems" on The Entourage Help Page. Most likely reinstalling some updates will correct this problem.
If the problem continues then I suggest posting your question on the microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage newsgroup. We hang out there ourselves along with many others who can help you resolve this problem. Plus others can benefit from your question and the answers.
