Microsoft has released the 11.3.8 update for Office 2004. (9.1 MB) The update requires that the Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.7 Update be installed first. Download them both from Mactoptia, use the Microsoft AutoUpdate application or simply select the Check For Updates command from the Help menu in any Office 2004 application.
According to the update’s Read Me file this update patches a vulnerability in Microsoft Word only. It does not affect Microsoft Entourage 2004, which will still appear as version 11.3.6 after the update is applied.

I just installed this update and now Entourage will not start. All my OSX updates are up to date to 10.4.10
Hi Peter!
The problem you're describing is typically not caused by the updater or a problem with Office (although it could be).
First, switch to another Mac OS X user account on your machine. You may need to create a new one in Apple menu --> System Preferences... --> Accounts. Does Entourage launch under that account? If so, then you have a problem with your identity or some of your Office preferences in your home folder.
If, however, Entourage and other Office applications fail to launch then you can try two things:
1. Run the Disk Utility application found in /Applications/Utilities and repair permissions. If that doesn't fix the problem then...
2. Download the Mac OS X 10.4.10 (or latest) combo updater from Apple's Downloads area and reapply that.
If you've determined that only Entourage or only Office 2004 applications are affected then as a final resort you can run the Remove Office application found in the Additional Tools folder of your Microsoft Office 2004 folder and then reinstall Office.
For additional troubleshooting help, be sure to post your question and what you've tried in the Microsoft Entourage newsgroup found here http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage. This way others can benefit from your questions and answers.
Good luck! bill
Hi,
Help! I'm having a problem re-setting up Entourage... I lost my account, because I stupidly rearranged some of my files in the Document folder. I gave up trying to figure out how to get my old account back, so I tried to just create a new one.
I created the account, entered all of the info, but cannot receive mail. The message I'm getting is "Bad username or password." I don't understand why, because as far as I can tell, the username and password should be correct. But I had had this same issue the first time I set up my Entourage account. I eventually fixed it, but now don't remember how I did...
I have a Roadrunner email, so I put my pop server as "pop-server.tampabay.rr.com" and the smtp server as "smtp-server.tampabay.rr.com."
I'm so frustrated, especially since I've been looking for answers all afternoon. I'm considering just giving up and setting up an aol email account...
Hi Karen!
Restoring your Entourage identity would be the simplest solution to your problem. This link should be of help . Put everything back in the folders as you see them listed here.
In your newly set up account you probably have your SMTP (outgoing email) server set up correctly but your POP (incoming email) server is not configured correctly. This link should explain the basics for configuring a POP account .
I used to be a Roadrunner subscriber before Comcast took over our service and your addresses look correct to me. Unfortunately, I can't get to Roadrunner's Help from within Comcast (they conveniently redirect me to Comcast help). But you can double-check your server settings at . You should not need any of the advanced settings selected for your POP server.
AOL mail? And you think setting up your Roadrunner account is frustrating!? ;-)
We greatly appreciate your comments about our blog but we do ask that help questions be directed to the Entourage newsgroup . That way the public can benefit from your question and the answers you receive.
Good luck!
Has anyone else been having a lot of Time Zone issues with Entourage, even when completely updated? We are on Exchange 2007 and the latest Entourage with all the Updates and OS updates, yet our calendars are still going nuts this week being off an hour. Anyone have any ideas? I know this isn't the subject of the post, but I think it is a botched patch job.

Hi! am using Entourage on Leopard... Copied the Microsoft User Data Folder to backup.. .After installing office 11.3.8 can't seem to restore my back up Microsoft User Data Folder no matter how many time I try...
Works in 10.4.
How does one fix this bug to be able to import the data?
Thanks...
Entourage works with Leopard. Some reports of odd problems have surfaced but most seem to be related to that individual's install and setup.
The reports I've seen about restoring the MUD folder have to do with permissions. Try letting Entourage create a new MUD folder. Move and/or rename the current MUD folder. After the new folder is created, try moving your Identity folder to the new MUD folder.
The best place to troubleshoot Entourage problems is on the Entourage newsgroup. See this link for how to subscribe:

Wow! You folks are fast on the reply for help...Thanks! (but) it didn't work...I tried like 100 times and still, hummmm
But here is the solution I have come up with after trying many attempts.
Finally the original Microsoft User Data File has been restored and working on Leopard. I hate when apple updates mess up the machine.
Here we go:
1. Took the Microsoft User Data Folder and put it on a machine that was running Microsoft Office X with OS 10.4.10
2. Put the Microsoft User Data folder into the documents folder.
3. After launching Microsoft Office X on the machine running OS 10.4.10 an error comes up telling you to restore the database since it is corrupted.
4. After following the prompts to restore the database on the mac running Office X with OS 10.4.10 your Microsoft User Data folder can now be transfered back to the machine running leopard with Entourage/Office 11.3.8 ( now you should see all your mail load)
Once you launch Entourage all is good. Not sure why this happened but I can assure this solution works if you had a problem similar to mine... Original MUD file was 855 megabites (for as long as I can remember)
Now after the database restore the MUD file is 1.2 gigs. again not sure why this is but it works.....
Anyone know why this happened?
Have another question. Is it possible to sync Entourage Cal and e-mails with the i-phone? If so how do you do it is there a script...
Glad to have found a blog totally dedicated to Entourage.
Hello Everyone!
Can you help? Entourage is now refusing to send/receive emails and I have no idea why. I'm running Leopard - has been working fine until this afternoon. I haven't changed anything - I can get on the internet, but my emails seem to be lost somewhere in cyberspace.
I'm receiving an error message:
Error - 3259
An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic.
Thanks in advance for any ideas...
Marie
Hi Marie!
That error message is rather cryptic and could be caused by several things.
I'm going to suggest you post your question in the Microsoft Entourage newsgroup so that you'll have more people (and us) looking at your problem. Be sure to include that you're using Leopard but also include your Entourage version and the type of E-mail account(s) you use (POP/SMTP, IMAP or Exchange). That information is crucial before we can begin suggesting solutions.
You'll find the newsgroup here .
We'll see you there!
I have spent the last 6 days battling both Road Runner and Apple. I switched from a PC (after 20 years of Microsoft) to a new IMAC with Entourage. I have the same troubles as those posted above regarding Entourage and Road Runner.
This worst and most telling thing about this battle is the complete lack of understanding on the part of both Apple & RoadRunner is that we are their customers. They do not seem to understand this or care about it. Neither of the companies will let you speak to anyone other than a low level "Tech Support" (kinda like trying to speak to an athletic supporter) person or their supervisor. That is the end of the line. You will not be allowed to speak to anyone above that level that might be of assistance in solving this apparently wide problem.
Seems to me a very arrogant position to take with the people who pay their salaries.
the only thing we as their customers can do is to spread the word that this is a big problem and that others should not purchase their products until they have corrected their problems. Hit 'em in the pocketbook.

PROBLEM WITH ENTOURAGE 2004!
I am having a really strange problem with Entourage 2004 on my boss's computer. He just bought a MacBook Pro and I told him I could set him up on our Microsoft Exchange network just as I had done with my MacBook. I have Tiger and he has Leopard, and that seems to be the only difference between our setups. His mail downloads very inconsistently and many times his email won't send from the MacBook Pro. I am literally connected to the same wireless network with both machines and my Entourage is working fine while his is not downloading mail, etc. It does download occasionally and pulls all old messages off the server, but it is just not consistent (and it's very frustrating because I can't figure out the problem!)
Please help before I get fired!
Hi Jason!
I'll point you to another post Optimize Entourage to better work with Exchange.
If you need help troubleshooting then I suggest posting your question in the Microsoft Entourage newsgroup.
To get you started, I suggest testing your account on your boss' computer and he test on your own computer.
Good luck!
