The Technology Guarantee program ends March 31st, 2008.
Most likely this is the last promotion we will see for Office 2008. The Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Technology Guarantee program allows customers who purchase an edition of Office 2004 for Mac to receive an edition of Office 2008 for the cost of shipping, handling plus applicable tax.
The Technology Guarantee isn't available anywhere outside of the US or Canada.
Some Office for Mac X users have decided to get Office 2004 just for the VBA features that are no longer available in Office 2008. They have opted to run both Office 2004 and Office 2008. The only conflict is if you try to run both Entourage 2008 and an earlier version of Entourage at the same time. For example, you can certainly run Excel X or 2004 and Excel 2008 or Word X or 2004 and Word 2008 at the same time with no problems. Same for PowerPoint.
Confused over which version to buy?
If you are a home user, you might find that you no longer need the full Standard version and can use the Home & Student version. (previously called Student & Teacher) It does not contain Exchange support or Automator actions.
The Special Media Edition contains Expression Media, the powerful asset management tool to visually catalog, organize and present all of your digital assets.
The Standard and Special Media editions are identical except for the addition of Expressions Media.
Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint are the same in all editions.

Note: Be very careful to read the fine print on the Technology Guarantee. You will need to send in proof of purchase. They will not automatically send you the upgrade. Be sure to keep copies of your receipts and other required info. As with all rebates, this one is no different and many users are experiencing delays.
