Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition has launched

Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition has launched and is now available on Mactopia. Because EWS final release requires 12.2.1 to be installed, it's currently only available for English and Japanese users. (If you don't use Exchange you don't need this update!)

Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac, Web Services Edition uses Exchange Web Services as the primary protocol to communicate with Exchange Server. In addition to several calendaring improvements, this new version of Entourage synchronizes notes, tasks, and categories with Exchange Server. This update also enables logging that can be used for diagnostic purposes. For detailed information about this update, see the IT Pros section of the Microsoft Web site.

Overall pretty happy with this. Faster than 12.2.1 and sync with exchange seams to be working very well.

Interesting issue I'm wondering if anyone else has seen... Connecting to our exchange server, the address that is going into the server address in Entourage is an address that isn't public. I change it to the OWA address that is public, but it seems every time my laptop is back on the local network at work, the address changes to the internal address which of course doesn't work again at home.

Any ideas? Or, what needs to be changed on the server?

We are really pleased to see Entourage WSE ship with support for Exchange categories. This means Entourage now has full support for CRM integration with Microsoft CRM (and a number of other leading CRMs).

Riva Integration Server for Exchange providers server-side integration between Exchange and MS CRM - NO PLUG-INS required. Because the integration is server-side, Riva is compatible with all Exchange clients including Outlook, Entourage, Outlook WA, BES, ActiveSync, etc.

I invite you to read more about this exciting new Entourage - CRM integration option at:

To John W. and other that have this problem, "every time my laptop is back on the local network at work, the address changes to the internal address"...

The reason this happens is because the Exchange WebServicesVirtualDirectory does not have the proper "ExternalURL" property set. Run (in Exchange console):
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Server SERVERNAME | FL

and you'll see that the ExternalURL will be blank or incorrect. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201695(EXCHG.80).aspx
for details, or run:
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -identity "SERVERNAME\EWS (Default Web Site)" -externalurl https://mail.contoso.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx -BasicAuthentication:$True

** substituting the server and/or virtual directory and URL for your environment.

Entourage should now notice when your off the company network and will switch to the external url properly.
